Cross Country Turns in Big Performances at NCAA South Regionals, WXC Claim Fourth

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Lipscomb's cross country teams returned to Huntsville on Friday morning to compete in the 2022 NCAA South Regional Championship. The men's team claimed sixth place behind a huge personal best from Brady Johnson while the women's team earned fourth place with two top-20 finishes and a new program record from Lydia Miller.

The women's team took off at 8:30am and got off to a quick start. Lydia Miller and Colbi Borland emerged as the leaders for the Bisons with Miller holding her spot in the top-10 and Borland holding in the top-20 runners throughout the race.

Miller claimed seventh place overall with a time of 19:52.40, shattering the former program record of 20:20.5 which has stood since 2014, and recording the first sub-20 6K time in Lipscomb women's cross country history. Borland followed her across the line with a top-20 finish of her own as she crossed the line 18^th with a time of 20:14.70, also breaking the former program record.

The next three scoring Bisons crossed the line in quick succession as Ally Suyak, Mackenzie Barnett, and Liza Corso crossed the line 34^th, 36^th, and 38^th respectively to cement Lipscomb's fourth-place finish. Suyak turned in a time of 20:42.40 while Barnett posted a 20:43.70, and Corso crossed the line at 20:45.00.

Of the seven Bisons who ran for the women's program Friday morning, five grabbed personal bests in the 6K. Out of the seven men's runners who competed Friday morning, four Bisons logged personal bests in the 10K.

Brady Johnson led the Purple and Gold across the line after leading the race for the majority of the 10K distance. Johnson recorded a huge personal best with a time of 30:29.80 to finish 27^th out of 180 runners, replacing his former best is 30:49.7 from the same meet last season and recording the third-fastest 10K time in men's program history.

Johnson was closely followed by Braedon Palmer in 29^th with a massive personal best of 30:34.50 to replace his former 10K personal best of 31:49.1 from last season's NCAA West Region Championship. Scott McKenzie earned a top-50 finish with another big personal best at 31:01.20, eclipsing his previous best of 32:09.6 recorded at the 2019 NCAA South Region Championships.

Nick Regas and Levi Streeval rounded out the Bisons' scoring five with times of 31:22.80 and 31:31.50 to claim 61^st and 68^th respectively. Regas earned a personal best with his time while Streeval was just the second freshman across the line at the meet.
