Men’s Tennis Announces Addition of Two to Roster for Spring 2023

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb men's tennis head coach Ben Roeser announced the addition of two new Bisons to the team for the spring semester. Joining the Herd are graduate transfer Vikash Singh and freshman Henrique Ushizima.
 
Singh comes to Lipscomb from Indiana University where he played four seasons for the Hoosiers. Over the course of his career, the Kolkata, India product earned 38 singles victories and eleven doubles matches including a 15-5 mark in dual singles over his freshman and sophomore seasons.
 
Prior to his collegiate career Singh won seven ITF Junior Circuit titles, appeared in the U.S. Junior Open, was an Orange Bowl Singles Finalist and Doubles Semi-Finalist in 2016, and was an Eddie Herr Singles and Doubles Semi-Finalist in 2016.
 
"Vikash has seen a very high level in our sport, not only playing in the biggest junior tournaments in the World, but playing both singles and doubles as a starter in the Big 10 for Indiana University," said head coach Ben Roeser. "Vikash is mature beyond his years and will not only be an immediate impact in our lineup, but our culture as well."
 
Ushizima joins the Bisons as a freshman ranked 305 as a junior player by the ITF and with a highest ATP ranking of 1,550 in the world. The São Paulo, Brazil local has won the Singles ITF J5 São Paulo, the Doubles ITF J3 LA Paz, was a quarterfinalist at J2 Bogato, and was a finalist at J2 Cochabamba.
 
"I am very excited for Henrique to get on campus and competing with our team," said Roeser. "Henrique and I have had a tremendous amount of contact along with his father and coach."
 
"What became abundantly clear was Henrique's passion to improve as a tennis player, student, and person," Roeser continued. "These qualities are what we are looking for at Lipscomb and Henrique will represent the Bisons well in this manner."
