Track & Field Finishes Indoor Season with Men 3rd, Women 5th at ASUN Indoor Championship, Four Bisons Earn First Place

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Lipscomb's men's and women's track & field programs wrapped up their 2022 Indoor season Saturday at the ASUN Indoor Championships held in Lynchburg, Va. Amidst four new program records, eight Bisons earned trips to the podium and four Bisons took the highest spot.
 
From the women's program, freshman Bella Jackson got things started for the Bisons with a first-place finish in the women's high jump. Jackson reached cleared 1.72m (5' 7.75") to secure her victory more than an inch higher than her next closest competitor.
 
Sophomore Kiara Carter took her own trip to the podium in the women's 800m run. Her time of 2:08.31 set a new program record, replacing the former record set by Carter only two weeks previously at the GVSU Big Meet.
 
Carter was a member of the women's 4x400m Relay team which earned a new program record with a time of 3:50.01. Hanna Anderson, Jaden Matthews, Kiara Carter, and Kendall Long worked together to replace the former record of 3:54.36 set earlier this season at the Commodore Challenge.
 
Senior Allie Scott set a new program record in the women's triple jump, posting a distance of 11.35m (37' 3") to replace Ki'ana Christy's previous program record of 11.27m, set in 2014.
 
Representing the women's distance squad, sophomore Lydia Miller took a second place spot on the podium with a blazing 4:50.38 in the women's mile run.
 
The men's program racked up successes of their own with two first place finishes from veteran leadership. Graduate student Jonathan Imes took the top spot on the podium with a time of 46.78 in the 400m dash.
 
Graduate student Jonathan Schwind took two trips to the podium Saturday, earning third in the men's mile at 4:04.17 and first in the 800m run at 1:49.42.

Schwind was accompanied on the 800m podium by Brady Johnson who earned third place with a 1:51.16 time.
 
The fourth program record set today came from the men's 4x400m team which earned fourth in the event with a time of 3:15.24.

The squad consisted of Jonathan Imes, Demontae Wilson, Alex Tirado, and Jonathan Schwind and the quartet's time replaced the former record of 3:16.67 which has stood since 2014.

The Bisons will open their outdoor track & field season Friday and Saturday, March 18th and 19th at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga.
