Men’s Tennis Bested By Commodores, Mesquida Earns Sole Point For Bisons

Box Score NASHVILLE – Lipscomb's Men's Tennis team headed up the street Sunday morning to face off against fellow Nashville native Vanderbilt. The Bisons fell 6-1 to the Commodores with junior Alex Mesquida earning the Bisons' lone point at the No. 5 position.

Doubles play saw partners Maksim Bogdanovich and Luka Stojanovic dispatched on court three to begin the match with a 6-1 victory for the Commodores.

Courts two and one finished next, with partners Sam Fischer and Jake Penny falling 2-6 to Vanderbilt at No.2, while Pedro Uribe and Gonzalo Garcia-Nieto ultimately fell 5-7 to their opponents.

Singles play saw the Commodores expand their lead to six points to none with a stretch of singles wins. Court two was the second singles match to finish as Pedro Uribe fell 2-6, 1-6 to Vanderbilt's #93 Joubert Klopper.

The match on court one finished third as Maksim Bogdanovich battled with the Commodores' #34 George Harwell before ultimately falling 4-6, 4-6 to the Nashville product.

For the final point of the day, Alex Mesquida fought in a thriller of a match as he battled on court five with Vanderbilt's Jeremie Casabon.

Mesquida exchanged a flurry of points with Casabon throughout the match, taking both sets to tiebreakers and emerging victorious with the Bisons solitary point for the contest in a 7-6 (14-12), 7-6 (7-5) win over the Commodore.
