Bisons Bring the Heat at Georgia Tech Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga. – Lipscomb's track and field headed down to Atlanta, Georgia to compete in the Georgia Tech Invitational this weekend. The Bisons earned ten top-10 finishes, including second-place finishes from Jonathan Imes and Brady Johnson, as well as a new program record from Allie Scott.
 
The women's program saw a number of stand out performances from the squad, headlined by senior Allie Scott earning a new program record and a new outdoor track & field personal best in the triple jump. Scott's distance of 11.67m (38' 3.5") replaces the former record of 11.56m (37' 11.25") set by Scott two weeks prior at the Joe Walker Invitational.
 
Continuing to highlight the field events squad, Anna Richardson and Franziska Decker claimed eighth and ninth place in the javelin throw, with Richardson recording a throw of 37.12m (121' 9") and Decker recording a distance of 36.78m (120' 8"). Freshman Bella Jackson earned seventh place in the high jump with a height of 1.69m (5' 6.5").
 
For the women's track squad, Kiara Carter notched a fourth-place finish in the 800m run with her time of 2:08.16, a time which earns her third in the conference.
 
The Bisons notched a second eighth and ninth-place finish in the women's 1500m run as Merabu Nagwandala and Lydia Miller crossed the line with times of 4:27.54 and 4:28.49 respectively.
 
From the men's program, Jonathan Imes claimed second place in the men's 400m dash with his time of 47.01. He was closely followed by fellow senior Demontae Wilson, whose time of 48.21 earned him eighth place.
 
Junior Brady Johnson earned two top-10 finishes at the meet as he notched a second-place finish in the 800m run with his time of 1:49.78. He also earned sixth place in the 1500m run with a time of 3:45.53. With this weekend's times, Johnson moved into fifth in the conference for the 1500m and fourth in the conference for the 800m.
 
UP NEXT
The Bisons will be back in Nashville next weekend as they head just up the road to compete in the Outdoor Music City Challenge, hosted by Vanderbilt University on Friday and Saturday, April 29-30th.
