Track & Field Concludes Regular Season with Flare at Hometown Meet

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb Track & Field wrapped up their regular season with a decisive showing at the Outdoor Music City Challenge, hosted by Vanderbilt University over the weekend. The Bisons notched eight podium appearances on Friday, including two first place finishes, along with four podium appearances and three program records on Saturday.

Day one of the meet featured a pair of first place finishes from the squads as well as a new program record for the men's 3000m run.

Senior Benjamin Ruffing notched the new record with his time of 8:17.36 to earn third place, smashing the previous record of 8:29.50 set by Jared Wingerter in 2014. His time ranks him 23rd in the NCAA for the men's 3000m currently.

Ruffing was closely followed across the line by freshman Cole Kimmel in fourth place whose own time of 8:19.88 broke the former program record as well and moves into second all-time.

The women's squad notched two first place finishes as Merabu Nagwandala finished first in the 1500m with a 4:23.31, taking second place in the conference standings with her time. Colbi Borland recorded the Bisons' second first-place finish of the day with her 9:31.06 in the 3000m run, closely followed by Mackenzie Barnett in second place (9:34.52).

On the men's side, Jonathan Imes earned a second-place finish in the 200m with a 21.24 while Joshua Bell collected his own second-place finish in the 1500m with a 3:51.50. These times marked the personal second-best times for Imes and Bell in their respective events.

Cole Streich and Bing Hudson brought in the final two podium appearances for the day as they finished second and third in the 3000m steeplechase with times of 9:39.16 for Streich and 9:42.19 for Hudson.

Day two of the meet saw dominating performances from the Bisons as Kiara Carter led the squad with a program record and personal best in the women's 800m run to take first place (2:05.66). Carter now holds second place in the conference and 29th in the NCAA East Region with her time from this weekend.

Freshman Bella Jackson earned a new program record for the field squad and her personal best height in the outdoor high jump at 1.76m (5' 9.25") to claim second place in the event. With this height, Jackson renews her claim at first in the conference as well as tying her for 30th in the NCAA East Region.

Junior Kennedy Miller notched the third program record of the day for the women's sprinters with her personal best time of 12.02 in the 100m dash.

The relay team of Kendall Long, Jaden Mathews, Hanna Anderson, Kiara Carter notched the second-best time in the program history for the women's 4x400m relay at 3:50.30, 0.07 second behind the program record of 3:50.23 set earlier this season at the Joe Walker Invitational by Carter, Klamorick, Clayton, A. Liddle.

The men's team put in incredible performances on day two, highlighted by a second-place finish in the 800m for Brady Johnson with his time of 1:50.42.
