Track & Field Teams Take 5th at ASUN Outdoor Championship

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Lipscomb's track & field teams concluded their regular season with the final day of the ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday. The Bisons earned eight podium appearances for the final day of competition, including a first-place finish and two new program records.
 
Graduate student Jonathan Schwind kicked things off for the men's team with a first-place finish in the 800m run in a tight battle as he crossed the line at 1:50.19, followed by a runner from North Florida at 1:50.59 in second, and junior Brady Johnson crossed the line third at 1:50.93
 
He then went on to claim a second-place finish in the men's 1500m run with his time of 3:45.49, good for the sixth-fastest time in Lipscomb program history.
 
Senior Jonathan Imes posted a time of 21.00 in the men's 200m dash to claim fifth place before teaming up with Demontae Wilson, Deven Ward, and Ryan Bush to finish third in the men's 4x400m relay with a time of 3:15.47.
 
On the women's side, Ally Suyak and Mackenzie Barnett logged times of 17:09.78 and 17:10.30 in the women's 5000m run to claim second and third place on the podium. Sophomore Kiara Carter earned a spot on the podium for the women's 800m run as she took third place with her time of 2:09.30.
 
The three Bison women in the 1500m run showed impressively synchronized pacing as Merabu Nagwandala finished fifth (4:27.06), Lydia Miller took sixth (4:28.24), and Liza Corso claimed seventh (4:29.46).
 
Graduate students Kendall Long and Allie Scott notched the two new program records for the Bisons. Long's time of 1:01.43 earned her second place in the event as she bested the previous record of 1:01.59, set by Long earlier this season at the Joe Walker Invitational.
 
Scott's record came from the triple jump where she posted a distance of 11.68m (38' 3.75"), improving on the previous program record of 11.67 Scott set at the Georgia Tech Invitational earlier this season.
