Women’s Tennis Competes at Vanderbilt June Stewart Invitational

Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb women's tennis team traveled up the road this weekend to compete in Vanderbilt's June Stewart Invitational against competitors from Vanderbilt, Purdue, Louisville, and Ole Miss. The Bisons brought home four singles wins and a trio of doubles victories over their second weekend of fall competition.

The Bisons once again showed off their singles prowess this weekend, led by Sasha Dobranos with a pair of wins over opponents from Purdue, going 6-2, 6-3 over her first Boilermaker foe and 6-4, 6-7, 1-0 (10-7) over her second Purdue opponent.

Freshman Mariya Dolzhenko split her two singles matches over the weekend, earning a 6-1, 0-6, 1-0 (10-4) win over her first opponent from Ole Miss and falling 6-1, 6-4 to her second Rebel adversary. Deborah Dominguez Collado earned a straight set win over her Louisville foe (6-4, 6-2) while Sofiia Paladi fell 6-3, 6-2 to her own Ole Miss opponent.

The doubles pairing of Rut Galindo and Deborah Dominguez Collado earned three wins this weekend – a trio of 6-3 wins over their opponents from Louisville and Ole Miss. Sasha Dobranos and Mariya Dolzhenko teamed up as well for the Bisons, but the duo was bested 6-1 by their opponents from Ole Miss.

UP NEXT
Lipscomb will return to action on Friday, Oct. 6 when they travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn. to take part in the MTSU Fall Invitational.
