Baseball Unveils Schedule for the Upcoming Season

NASHVILLE - The reigning ASUN regular season champions, tournament champions, and ASUN Coach of the Year, Jeff Forehand, are excited to unveil their 2024 schedule.

"We all are looking forward to another very challenging schedule. Excited for our first two weekends at home before we hit the road to two very good SEC teams in weeks three and four," said Forehand.

The Bisons will take the field 54 times in 2024 and 26 times at Ken Dugan Field this season. Lipscomb Baseball will open the season with seven games at home, including a weekend series with Ohio (Feb. 16-18) and Xavier (Feb. 23-25), with a midweek showdown with Western Kentucky (Feb. 20) between the two three-game showings.

The Bisons will then hit the road for the first time for a midweek contest against MTSU (Feb. 27), followed by their first SEC foe in the Kentucky Wildcats (Mar. 1) for a three-game set during the weekend.

Coach Forehand's bunch will again square up with several "Power-Five" programs in 2024, including a series with Alabama, a two-game set with Louisville, and weekday matchups with Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Kentucky, as previously mentioned.

Lipscomb will continue their annual home and away split with crosstown rival Belmont, with the first meeting taking place at home (Mar. 8) and the second at Rose Park (April 2). Along with the Bruins, the Bisons will take on three other mid-major programs in the state during the midweek, including MTSU and Tennessee Tech, both home and away, and then at Memphis on March 26.

For the fourth straight season, Lipscomb will kick off conference play at home as they host Austin Peay (Mar. 15-17). Other home conference series for the Bisons include Queens (April 5-7), Eastern Kentucky (April 19-21), FGCU (April 26-28), and Bellarmine (May 10-12).

Lipscomb will play five ASUN road series, including Stetson (Mar. 22-24), North Alabama (Mar. 28-30), North Florida (Apr. 12-14), Central Arkansas (May 3-5), and Kennesaw State (May 17-19) to close out the regular season.

The Bisons won a program-best 23 conference games last year on their way to a regular season title and the top seed in the 2023 ASUN Championship. This year's Championship will again occur in DeLand, Florida, at Melching Field at Conrad Park on May 21-26.

Four teams on the Bisons docket made the NCAA Baseball Championship a season ago, including Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, and Xavier. Six of the Bisons' opponents this season finished 2023 in the top 50 in RPI, making out for an always challenging schedule for the Bisons under the 23rd year head man Jeff Forehand.

"Similar to last year, we feel like our pre-conference and our mid-week schedule will prepare us for ASUN conference opponents each weekend. We anticipate our ASUN opponents to be very strong again, and each weekend will be very competitive. We hope to see Bison Nation at Dugan field on Feb 16 vs. Ohio University," concluded Forehand.
