Softball Announces Addition of Three to Roster

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb softball and head coach Kristin Ryman announced Wednesday the addition of three new Bisons to their number. Mallory Ogle and Ella Polk will join the squad as true freshmen next season and Ryleigh Sapp will make her way to Nashville in the spring of 2023.

"All of these student-athletes come from fantastic, supportive families," said coach Ryman. "Having two younger sisters join our program in the same year is unique, and we look forward to keeping their families around even longer! All three girls are great students and understand that they will get a well-rounded experience at Lipscomb. But they also know we are working hard to get back to the championship-type level to which our program has historically been.

"These girls are strong players who will bring a lot to our program, but they are also driven to win championships," Ryman continued. "Ultimately, they are also great people who fit our program and our standards well.  We can't wait to get each of these girls on campus and get to work!"

Mallory Ogle joins the Bisons from Hoover, Ala. where she competed for Fury Premier and prepped at John Carroll Catholic as an outfielder. Over her preparatory career, Ogle earned four All-Region distinctions and was a two-time Alabama All-State Team selection. She served as the captain for her school's softball team and earned three Slugger Awards with batting averages of .400, .489, and .567. Ogle lists going to state with her high school team as the top memory of her high school career and will join her sister Macey on the Lipscomb Softball team.

Coach Ryman had this to say about Mallory: "We have followed Mallory for quite a while now – ever since we recruited her older sister & current Bison pitcher, Macey! She is very familiar with our program and culture, and she will fit in seamlessly. Mal will bring speed to our outfield and to the basepaths, but will also be a tough out at the plate. She has worked hard to become a triple threat and use all of her tools, and we believe that will help her compete with a strong outfield group early in her career. Mallory is intelligent and is a self-starter. She is prepared, yet still has a lot of room to grow at this level. We are excited to coach Mal and believe the best is yet to come for her in purple & gold."

Hailing from Arrington, Tenn., Ella Polk comes to Lipscomb from Fury Premier and Page High School where she was a four-year varsity starter in the infield and a three-time team captain. Across her time at Page, Polk earned three All-District Team selections, a 2023 All-District Tournament Team selection, a 2023 All-Region selection, a 2023 Main Street Preps All Mid-State selection, a selection to the Tennessean's Large Class All-Midstate, and a 2023 Tennessee Sports Writers Association All-State selection. Polk holds the Page High School all-time single season school records in batting average (.524), on-base percentage (.580), slugging percentage (.895), and home runs (5). She earned the #1 ranking in hits as told by the South East Fastpitch League as well as a Top-25 National Ranking in hits by the Alliance Fastpitch League. Polk listed being one of four players nominated for the Williamson County School's Sports Conference Softball Player of the Year and is set to join her sister Josey on the Lipscomb Softball team next season.

Coach Ryman had this to say about Ella: "Ella is a local product from the nearby Franklin area, and she has also become a familiar face around our program with her older sister Josey transferring into our program last year. When I think of Ella, I think of versatility. She can play nearly anywhere on the field and will bring power abilities to the plate. Her work ethic has been extra impressive over the last five months as she has worked to get back from a serious injury. Her drive has been impressive and is preparing her well for her comeback. Ella will be able to impact us in a number of ways, and we look forward to seeing her fully healthy again. I look forward to coaching her and seeing her really take off at this level."

Ryleigh Sapp joins the Bisons from Monroe, Ga. where she competed for Apalachee High School and Mojo 2023 as a pitcher. Over her high school career, Sapp was named the Region Pitcher of the Year in 2022 and 2023, and a 2022 First Team All-State selection. Sapp boasts the single season strikeout record for Apalachee High School with 279 strikeouts and 552 total strikeouts compiled over two years as well as a 43-4 win-loss record. She lists becoming 2022 6A Georgia State Runner-Up with her team as her favorite memory from her high school career and will join the Bisons in the spring of 2024.

Coach Ryman had this to say about Ryleigh: "Ryleigh was a later commit for us, and we believe we got a steal! Her maturity will help her immensely at this level, and we believe she will be a great fit for our culture. She has been battle-tested, and her growth over the last year has been impressive. Ryleigh is a competitor and will compete for us every time she's in the circle. We anticipate her playing a big role for us early in her career and look forward to also seeing her growth as a Bison. She will be a difference-maker for us, and we are excited to welcome her to Nashville!"
