Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at Yellow Jacket Invite

ATLANTA, Ga. – Lipscomb's men's and women's track & field programs opened up their 2023 outdoor season by competing in the Yellow Jacket Invite, hosted by Georgia Tech. The Bisons tallied six top-five and 19 top-10 finishes overall in a successful start to their outdoor season.

Junior Austin Remick, junior Nick Regas, and sophomore Bing Hudson paced the Bisons on a rainy first day of the meet by finishing 1st (9:14.56), 2nd (9:15.58), and 3rd (9:20.73) in the men's 3,000m steeplechase. Sophomore Malik Baker also posted a top-five finish by crossing 3rd in the men's 110m hurdles (16.25).

Junior Mollie Longmire led the women's team on Friday by finishing 3rd overall in the women's 3,000m steeplechase (10:55.70), while sophomore Jaden Mathews and senior Allie Scott posted a 6th (5.18m) and 8th (4.94m)-place finishes in the women's long jump.

Junior Scott McKenzie and freshman Ellie Brewer crossed 7th in the men's 1,500m run (3:54.04) and the women's 1,500m run (4:36.44) respectively.

Senior Franziska Decker posted an 8th-place finish in the women's shot put (11.54m), while sophomore Dimitri Kemp and sophomore Kennedy Miller finished 9th overall in both the men's long jump (6.17m) and the women's 100m dash (12.13).

Baker paced the Bisons on the second day of the Yellow Jacket Invite by crossing 3rd in the men's 400m hurdles (1:00.82).

Freshman Makayla Watson finished 6th in the women's 200m dash (24.92), while sophomore Sydney Liddle and Brewer were 6th (2:14.00) and 8th (2:15.10) in the women's 800m run respectively.

Senior Bill Comstock and freshman Brady Yingst finished 6th (1:53.81) and 9th (1:54.97) in the men's 800m dash, while the 4x400m relay team of sophomore Abigail Alvarado, Mathews, freshman Kynnedy Gilbert and Liddle crossed 8th (4:02.91).

UP NEXT:
The Bisons will travel to Raleigh, North Carolina on Thursday, March 23 to start the three-day Raleigh Relays.
