Box Score WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Lipscomb University men's tennis team continued fall play with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Fall Regional Championships this past weekend at Purdue University.
SINGLES MAIN DRAW
Henrique Ushizima dropped Ryan Mudre of Chattanooga in his opening round. After breezing past Mudre in the first set, 6-2, the players went into a seven-point tiebreak. Ushizima blanked his opponent in the tiebreak, 7-6 (0).
The round of 32 matchup saw the junior go up with Kosuke Nakanishi of Louisville. After Nakanishi won the opener, 6-4, Ushizima forced a third set with a 6-1 win.
In the deciding frame, the teams went the distance, going to another tiebreak for Ushizima. However, it was Nakanishi with the 7-6 (2) win to advance.
SINGLES QUALIFIER DRAW
Oskar Szymczak went three sets with Kyle Totorica of Xavier. After dropping the opening set, 6-4, the freshman won the next two, 7-6 (4), 6-2 to advance to the second round.
Szymczak would fall in the round of 32 to No. 9 Peter Kalocsai of East Tennessee State, 6-1, 6-4.
Oliver Thoeny went three sets in his opening round contest with Gabriel Castillo-Sanchez of Chattanooga but fell 6-2, 1-6, 1-6.
Facundo Perlov also went three with Andrew Hayward of Ball State. After Perlov won the opener, 6-4, he faltered in the next two, 2-6, 3-6.
However, in the consolation draw, Perlov rebounded with a straight-set win over Rahulniket Konakanchi of Butler, 6-4, 6-0.
DOUBLES MAIN DRAW
Perlov/Ushizima dropped a close contest with Giuseppe Cerasulo and Tighe Brunetti, 8-6, in the duo's lone match of the weekend.

The Bisons will next head to Chattanooga for the UTC Invitational this weekend.
