Szymczak Earns 20th Victory of the Year in Singles, but Men’s Tennis Falls in Tight Match to UNA

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb University Men's Tennis team saw a three-match win streak end with a 5-2 loss to the University of North Alabama on Tuesday afternoon from the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
North Alabama got the scoring going out of the gate by taking the doubles point, winning on flights one and three. 

The Bisons did get two singles wins to stay in the match. At the top flight, Facundo Perlov (17-18) earned his ninth dual win of the year. After defeating Lachlan Brain 6-2 in set one, the two went into a seven-point break in set two. The senior defeated Brain 7-4 in the break to secure the top flight. 

On court four, Oskar Szymczak (20-13) used a first set break win to defeat Ale Despoja 7-6 (4), 6-4. The sophomore earned his 20th singles win of the year, as he improved to 11-8 on Tuesday. 

Unfortunately for the Bisons, the Lions won the remaining four flights to secure the victory.

The Bisons will have a quick turnaround, as they will next host Tennessee State on Wednesday afternoon. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
