Men's Tennis Handles EKU In Important ASUN Match

Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb men's tennis was on its home court on Saturday and notched a huge ASUN win, defeating Eastern Kentucky 5-2. EKU was top-three in the ASUN coming into the match, marking an important win for the Bisons. 
 
The Bisons claimed the first point of the match when it secured the doubles point to get things started early on a sunny Saturday afternoon. 
 
Krzysztof Wetoszka and Sebastian Dominiguez earned a 6-4 victory on the top court to get Lipscomb started off on the right foot.

EKU quickly evened things up with a 6-4 victory of its own as Lipscomb's Facundo Perlov and Carlos Salas Tulla dropped a narrow match on court two.

The final doubles match of the afternoon was a tightly-contested affair as Matheus Lima and Henrique Ushizima earned the doubles point for the Bisons in a tiebreaker, ultimately defeating the Colonels pair 7-6 after dominating the tiebreaker 7-1. 
 
Eastern Kentucky evened things up with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Henrique Ushizima on court two before Sebastian Dominguez claimed the lead for the Bisons once more with a gutsy 7-5, 6-4 victory in the No. 3 spot.
 
Lipscomb's squad kept the momentum rolling when Matheus Lima cruised to a 6-3, 6-3 victory in the No. 4 spot to give the squad a 3-1 lead.

The Colonels struck back with a win on court five as Carlos Salas Tulla fell 6-4, 6-4 to his EKU opponent, dropping the Bisons' lead to just one point with two more matches still in play.

Facundo Perlov put up the clinch point for the Bisons with a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 win on court five to secure the Bisons' victory over the Colonels.

The Bisons' number one, Krzysztof Wetoszka kept fight going for Lipscomb after Perlov's clinch point, defeating his opponent after EKU Evzen Holis was forced to retire. Wetoszka won the first set 6-4 and was tied in the second set 6-6 and was in control in the tiebreak 5-4, when Holis retired.

Lipscomb's 5-2  win over the Colonels on Saturday afternoon stands as the team's second ASUN victory of the season.

The Bisons are back on the court Thursday, April 4 against Belmont. The match starts at 1 p.m. CT at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center.
