Baseball Falls During Midweek to Golden Eagles

NASHVILLE - Lipscomb fell to Tennessee Tech (20-13, 6-3 OVC) in their midweek matchup Tuesday afternoon 9-5 at Ken Dugan Field.

Tennessee Tech scored five runs in the first three innings to jump in front of the Bisons. Despite some offense by Lipscomb in the middle innings, the Golden Eagles took home a four-run win, handing Lipscomb their 22nd loss of the year.

The Bisons and Golden Eagles managed to avoid rainy conditions in a game that was moved up four hours because of potential disruptive weather conditions in the area.

Tennessee Tech blasted a two run homer to left field in the first inning to take an early 2-0 advantage. The Golden Eagles added three more runs in the third on an RBI single to short, followed by a sacrifice fly and another RBI single in the in-field to take a five-run lead.

Tennessee Tech added another run on a wild pitch in the fourth before Lipscomb scored their first wo runs to break up the shutout in the bottom half.

Lipscomb two runs in the frame both came on a single to left center by Will Lee that brought home Parks Bouck and Austin Kelly, who each singled with two outs prior to the Lee's at-bat.

However, the Golden Eagles got both of those runs back in the fifth, with a sac fly of their own, and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch in the fifth.

Lipscomb showed some fight late as David Coppedge added to his recent hot stretch of play and kept the Bisons within striking distance in the sixth with a two-run bomb to left field.

Unfortunately, an RBI single to left center by the Golden Eagles scored the their ninth run of the afternoon.

Another run came across home plate for the Bisons, but their deficit was too much to overcome, as they fell to the instate foe 9-5.

POSTGAME NOTES

  • Bouck and Lee had multi-hits performances against Tennessee Tech.
  • Coppedge and Lee had two RBIs.
  • Coppedge's homer was his fourth of the season.
