NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb University men's tennis team saw three singles points go the distance but prevailed for the 6-1 win over the University of Southern Indiana, Friday night inside the Ensworth Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In doubles, it was USI that picked up the win at 3-doubles before Lipscomb countered with a 6-1 victory by
Oliver Thoeny and
Giovanni Ciocca at the No. 2 spot.
Coming down to the top flight for the team point,
Juan Lombisano and
Facundo Perlov had the 3-2 advantage over Axel Sabourin and Jy Hibbert, but the Bisons won the last three games to take the set and get the home team out to the crucial 1-0 lead to pick up their second win of the spring.
Moving to singles, Ciocca improved to 2-3 in the spring with a quick 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot to make it a 2-0 lead.
Next up, after Lombisano won his first set 6-2, Eytan Michaeli did not go away quietly in the second. All even at five games apiece, Lombisano won the next two to give the Bisons the 3-0 advantage.
While
Oskar Szymczak, Perlov and Thoeny all currently in decisive third sets at the point in the match,
Filippo Verdese had a battle at the No. 6 spot in the lineup. The sophomore transfer battled with Adam Koon to even the first set up at 6-6. In the tiebreak, Verdese edged Koon, 8-6.
From there, Verdese had all control as he shut out his opponent 6-0 to clinch the match for the Bisons.
Perlov (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) and Szymczak (6-3, 3-6, 6-2) also picked up wins for Lipscomb.

The Bisons will next host Eastern Illinois in an afternoon showdown. Originally scheduled to be played indoors, the contest will be played outdoors at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
