AUBURN, Ala. – The Lipscomb University Men's Tennis team, led by a third place finish by Henrique Ushizima and Facundo Perlov, competed in the Battle on the Plains, hosted by Auburn University, over the weekend. 

Six Bisons participated in the Orange Draw. 

The tournament was played as a mini dual, consisting of a doubles match followed by two singles matches. The winner of two out of three matches advanced in the draw.

In the opening round matchup, Facundo Perlov and Henrique Ushizima took a clean sweep of Alabama State, including a late rally by Perlov in his singles matchup, defeating Martin Catrice, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4. 

The Bisons duo advanced to the semifinals with two of three wins against Alex Despoja and Whit Davis of UNA. 

In the semifinals, despite taking the doubles set, 6-3, Leonard Tramolay and Samuel Kyjaci went the full three sets with Perlov and Ushizima, but the duo from Louisiana sent Lipscomb to the third place match. 

Facing Sam Reeve and Lasse Rensing of Memphis, Perlov's 1-6, 6-2, 6-1 win in singles would be the deciding factor as the Bisons took third place in the draw. 

Filippo Verdese picked up two singles wins at the tournament, defeating UAB in straight sets and Georgia Tech in three.
