JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Even though the Atlantic Sun Conference yearly awards will not be announced until Wednesday, the setter position could already be locked up, as Sophia Hudepohl of the Lipscomb University Volleyball team earned her fifth ASUN Setter of the Week award and the 13th of her career, the league office announced on Monday. 

The senior averaged 12.43 assists per set in two matches last week against Austin Peay and Queens, good for 10th-most in Division I last week. Additionally, her 87 assists over two matches is good for 28th-highest last week among her Division I comrades. 

In the three-set sweep of Austin Peay on Tuesday, 44 of her 86 attempts resulted in a kill for her offense (51.2%) that saw her team hit .353. 

Adding 17 digs, she recorded a double-double against Queens on Saturday with 43 assists and 12 digs. 

She enters the ASUN Tournament with 10.72 assists per set, good for ninth in Division I and 1,008 assists is 31st in the country. 

Of the 36 times the award has been presented since it was established in 2023, the Cincinnati, Ohio native has won it over one-third of the time. In LUV history, she surpassed Carlyle Nusbaum (2015-18) for the most weekly awards, earning 12 Player of the Week honors during her career.

When she earned Setter of the Year honors in 2023, Hudepohl won the weekly setter award five times during that season.

Lipscomb will next prepare for the 2025 ASUN Tournament, which starts on Thursday morning. The 5-seeded Bisons will take on the 4-seed Sugar Bears from Central Arkansas at 10 a.m. EST / 9 a.m. CST from Alico Arena on the campus of Florida Gulf Coast University.
