NASHVILLE – A combined 26 runs, 24 hits and 19 walks happened Tuesday evening between Tennessee Technological University and Lipscomb University. Unfortunately, for the Bisons, the Golden Eagles picked up the 15-11 win from Ken Dugan Field at Stephen Lee Marsh Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Command was an issue on both sides to start the game. Tennessee Tech used two walks and a hit by pitch with the first three batters. Later, Riley Black drove two home with an RBI single to get the Golden Eagles on the board first.
In the bottom half, the Bisons took advantage of struggles from starter Kevin Matos, who faced three batters and walked two. Following a double steal from Aaron Stelogannis and
Keaton Mahan,
Kai Holm grounded out to second to get the home team on the board.
Three batters in, TTU goes to the bullpen, and
David Coppedge comes out with an RBI groundout of his own to tie the game at two runs apiece. Following a
Jacob Tobias walk,
Ryan Austin gave Lipscomb the lead, 3-2, in the first inning with his RBI double.
However, the Golden Eagles scored two in the second, one in the third and five in the fourth while keeping the Bisons off the board to swell the lead to 10-3.
After
Joey Mitchell pitched a clean fifth inning, Lipscomb's bats came out hot with three runs in the bottom half, capped by an Austin single to score
David Coppedge.
Now trailing 10-5, and with the bases loaded,
Corey Boyette worked a seven-pitch walk to make it 10-6 after
Jacob Tobias touched home plate.
The Golden Eagles responded with three runs of their own in the seventh to make it a 13-6 affair, but the Bisons came back in the seventh with four more runs on two homers.
Austin led off the frame with a solo shot for his fourth of the season to left center field. Later, with
Collin Goda and Stelogeannis on base, Mahan launched a 358-foot homer with a 39-degree angle that cleared the right field wall for his third tater of the season to make the score 13-10.
TTU came back in the eighth with two runs to put the game away, but the Bisons did add a run in the eighth after
Lawson Tea's first career hit, a double, and later scoring on a two-bagger from Tobias.
KEY STATISTICS
Aaron Stelogeannis posted his 13th multi-hit game of the and his second three-hit game with a 3-for-4 night at the plate. The junior transfer also scored three times.
Ryan Austin recorded his first career three-hit game, capped by a home run in the seventh, and was a triple shy of the cycle. The redshirt junior also drove in three RBI in the setback.
Keaton Mahan also had a three-RBI game thanks to his three-run homer as he had a 2-for-5 performance at the plate.
UP NEXT
Lipscomb will now turn their attention back to ASUN play, as they will travel to North Alabama for a three-game series starting Friday night from Florence, Alabama.
The Bisons currently sit in second place in the Gold Division, five games behind Austin Peay (18-3) with nine games remaining. Currently at 13-8, Lipscomb has a three-game cushion in second place, as UNA and Central Arkansas are tied for third with a 10-11 league record.
