Final Score: Lipscomb 7, Middle Tennessee State 2
Location: Ken Dugan Field at Stephen Lee Marsh Stadium
Records: Lipscomb (23-24), Middle Tennessee State (20-28)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb put up single runs in the second and third. In the second, after a walk and a throwing error put
David Coppedge at second base,
Damion Kenealy Jr. brought him home on an RBI groundout.
In the third, a lead off single by
Alejandro Ludeiro was later cashed in thanks to a sac fly from
Brady Miller.
The Bisons broke the game open in the fourth with three runs. Two of them scored on RBI singles by
Kai Holm and Kenealy. Later, with Ludeiro on third, he scored on a balk by pitcher Jonny Stevens.
Leading 5-0, Lipscomb added some two-out insurance. Holm laced a triple on a diving attempt from the right fielder in Brett Rogers. Next up, Kenealy followed with his second RBI of the game with a double.
MTSU did get a run in the sixth on a lead off home run by Tyler Minnick, but the Bisons got the run back in the eighth, taking advantage of a two-out catcher's interference call while Ludeiro was at the plate. Following a
Collin Goda single to flip the lineup card,
Aaron Stelogeannis made it 7-2 with his RBI knock.
Lipscomb finished the non-conference schedule with an 8-15 overall record. The Bisons had the 15th-best non-conference strength of schedule, playing Kentucky, Florida State, West Virginia, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Louisville.
