Lipscomb University's Director of Athletics, Philip Hutcheson, has announced two staff promotions as Brent McMillian has been promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Engagement and Revenue Generation and Bryan Engle is elevated to Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Affairs.
"I am proud to announce the well-deserved promotions of Brent McMillian to Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Engagement and Revenue Generation and Bryan Engle to Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Affairs," said Lipscomb Director of Athletics, Philip Hutcheson. "Both Bryan and Brent have been integral parts of all of the successes that Lipscomb has enjoyed over the past several years and both have demonstrated the attitude, effort and expertise required to help our department successfully navigate today's ever-changing NCAA landscape. I appreciate the many contributions they've made to elevate and enhance the experience for our student athletes, programs, campus community, Lipscomb partners and fans. I'm even more appreciative to get to work with two people whose values are perfectly-aligned with those of our Lipscomb community, and I'm confident the best is yet to come for both as they continue serving and leading here."
A seven-year veteran of Lipscomb Athletics with over 15 total years of experience in NCAA DI athletics, McMillian's responsibilities include oversight of existing and new streams of departmental revenue generation, including ticket sales, premium seating and suite sales, corporate partnerships, brand licensing, broadcast and multimedia rights, special events and in-kind partnerships. McMillian will also work closely with Hutcheson and the Lipscomb advancement team on NIL strategy, revenue creation and strategic partnerships. In addition to his revenue-generation responsibilities, McMillian also oversees all areas where the "programs meet the public" including marketing and promotions, in-game experience, sports information, broadcast and streaming services and social media strategy. McMillian is a part of the Lipscomb Athletics senior leadership team and will continue working with any annual or long-range strategic planning initiatives that impact the department as well as continue his sport-supervision responsibilities for Lipscomb women's basketball, men's soccer and men's and women's golf.
Engle has been a part of the Lipscomb team for the past four years and has almost 20 years of experience in college athletics. Engle's responsibilities include oversight of all operations, scheduling, policies and usage for the entire Lipscomb Athletics complex along with directing all regular-season and postseason events on campus in which Lipscomb is taking the lead. He is Lipscomb's lead contact with the Atlantic Sun Conference and all intracampus partners, as well. Engle will also work closely with the Director of Athletics and other campus constituents on the planning and execution of all on-going departmental maintenance work, facility upgrades and new capital projects and he will continue to work with the department leadership to improve staff retention and development through on/off boarding, personal and team development and communications initiatives. Engle, too, is a part of the Lipscomb Athletics senior leadership team and will be counted on for strategic input regarding annual, long-range and special projects as well as continuing his sport-supervision responsibilities for volleyball, baseball and men's and women's tennis.
Engle and McMillian were both selected as two of the 18 members of the 2024-25 Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) and Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association (DI-AAA ADA) Fellows Leadership Development program which recognizes rising leaders in the industry.
