Box Score

SEATTLE – The Lipscomb University Volleyball team (4-2) played its first road match of the 2026 season, and they were tested by the University of Washington (6-0), as the Huskies took down the Bisons in three sets, 25-14, 25-16, 25-20, inside Alaska Airlines Arena on Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
LUV traded early points with UW on kills from Brooklyn Fuchs and Anna Claire Brown, but the Huskies built the first separation at 8-3 behind kills by Kylie Kleckner and Julia Hunt and a block by Katy Wessels and Andrea Fabikovicova.

The Bisons got kills from Kelsey Schenck, Sydney Strenger and Ella Durham before a Fuchs-Brown block and a Durham service ace brought the Bisons within 16-11. UW kept control from there, reaching 24-13 with kills by Julia Hunt and Simona Mateska around a Bisons attack error. After a UW service error, Mateska finished the set with a kill for a 25-14 Huskies win.

Lipscomb moved in front 4-2 in the second set on a Brown kill and a Grace Jones service ace, then rebuilt the margin to 10-7 with kills from Durham and a block by Fuchs and Brown. UW pulled even at 12-12 on a Simona Mateska kill, and Addy Azavedo served two aces during a six-point stretch that pushed the Huskies ahead 18-12.

Strenger stopped the run with a kill, but UW answered with three straight points for a 21-13 lead and later reached 24-16 on another Mateska kill. The Huskies closed the set on a Bisons attack error to take it 25-16.

The third set stayed close early, with Brown putting down a kill for a 3-3 tie before Washington used two blocks and a Maija Howse kill to move in front 7-4.

LUV kept the set within reach behind kills from Strenger, Durham and Fuchs, and Durham's kill and service ace pulled the Bisons within 14-13 before Brown's kill and a UW attack error tied it at 16-16. The Huskies answered with four straight points, including a Julia Hunt kill, a Simona Mateska kill and a Kylie Kleckner ace, but the Bisons came back to 20-19 on a UW service error and consecutive assisted blocks by Schenck and Strenger.

After Mateska's kill made it 21-19, Durham had two late kills to keep the Bisons within two, but the Huskies reached match point on a service error and finished the set 25-21 on a Bisons attack error.

Ella Durham led the Bisons with 11 points on nine kills and two aces.
