Jordan's 11 Ks leads softball to 2-0 win over Indiana

Box Score

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Lipscomb softball team earned another win over a “Power Five” school on Friday as they kicked off the Samford Invitational with a 2-0 win over Indiana.

Junior Mandy Jordan went the distance, throwing 11 strikeouts and only allowing three hits to get her second shutout of the season. She is now 3-0 on the year.

The Lady Bisons (6-2) scored both runs in the bottom of the second inning. Sophomore Peyton Ward started the sequence of events by walking and then stealing second.

Junior Destinee Brewer then reached base on a fielding error before advancing to second on an errant throw. Ward scored on the throw, putting Lipscomb ahead 1-0.

Freshman Caitlin Turner singled to first, and then also stole second. Senior Abby Fenichel walked to load the bases for the Lady Bisons.

A bases-loaded wild pitch advanced all runners, scoring Brewer and giving Lipscomb a two-run advantage.

Lipscomb will be back today at 6 p.m. with a game against the hosts Samford.
