GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Lipscomb softball team started off the 2018 campaign strong as the Lady Bisons took down Georgia Tech 1-0 in eight innings in the opening game of the Sand Dollar Classic.

Junior Mandy Jordan, the ASUN's Preseason Pitcher of the Year, recorded a career-high 17 strikeouts in a two-hit shutout to lead the way for the Purple and Gold.

Lipscomb scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning when junior Sarah Higgins doubled to left field, sending fellow junior Kayla Green in for the only score of the game.

Freshman Caitlin Turner notched two hits and a HBP to get on base three times in her first appearance in the Purple and Gold.

After the dispatching of an ACC foe, the Lady Bisons will have a quick turnaround as they will face No. 14 Ole Miss out of the SEC at 1 p.m.
