Box Score DELAND, Fla. - The Lipscomb softball team did not end their series with Stetson the way they started it, as the Lady Bisons fell 5-3 to the Hatters in Saturday’s series closer.
After sweeping a doubleheader on Friday, Lipscomb (22-10, 3-3) started out strong on Saturday as senior Abby Fenichel blasted a two-run home run in the first inning.
Freshman Caitlin Turner also scored on the play after reaching on an error during her lead off at bat.
Stetson’s (22-13, 2-4) Lizzie Shubert answered with a two-run home run of her own in the bottom of the first to knot the game up at 2-2.
The Hatters pulled ahead 3-2 in the second with a solo home run from Maggie Fritts.
Lipscomb starting pitcher Mandy Jordan was replaced by sophomore Chloe Yeager in the second.
Stetson scored another pair of runs in the fourth off of a home run from Devin Lewis and a double from Linda Ross.
The Lady Bisons scored a third run in the sixth as senior Caitlin Plocheck hit a solo home run, but it was too little too late for Lipscomb.
