That is exactly what Lipscomb’s Mandy Jordan did Friday at Draper Diamond at Smith Stadium in the Purple/Gold Challenge. She threw a 1-0, two-hit shutout, ending Appalachian State’s school record win streak at eight games.
Jordan, 4-3, struck out seven and walked three.
Sydney Holland, 3-3, went the distance for Appalachian St. She gave up four hits and four walks and struck out five.
Lipscomb did not get an extra base hit in the game for the first time this season. Peyton Ward, Graysen Gladden, Jordan Fortel and Abby Davis each had one hit.
Lipscomb’s sole run was scored in the fourth inning. Fortel led off with a single up the middle and scored from third when DeVault, who had walked, stole second.
Lipscomb is 9-6-1. Appalachian State is 9-4.
