Lady Bisons struggle for runs at Liberty

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Lipscomb coach Kristin Ryman thought runs could be hard to come by this weekend.

Unfortunately for her Lady Bisons the prediction proved to be an accurate one. Saturday afternoon the Lady Bisons fell 4-1 and 7-1 against Liberty at Kamphuis Field. It was the first ASUN series for Lipscomb, 19-11-1, 0-2 in the conference. Liberty is 19-12, 3-2 in the ASUN.

Big hits contributed to the only runs for Lipscomb in each game.

Jordan Fortel opened game two with a two-out first inning home run blast to center field.

In the seventh inning of game one Peyton Ward reached base on a fielder’s choice bringing home Graysen Gladden who had reached base on a double down the left field line.

In game two Katie Turner, 8-2, started in the circle for Lipscomb. In five innings she gave up seven hits and seven runs, five earned. She struck out two and walked three. Chloe Yeager closed out the game pitching one inning with one hit and no runs.

Chase Cassady, 5-1, threw a complete game four-hitter. She struck out eight and one.

Mandy Jordan, 7-4, went the distance for Lipscomb in game one. She scattered eight hits, walked four and struck out four.

Julia DiMartino, 10-6, pitched all seven innings for Liberty. She allowed six hits, struck out 10 and walked three.
