After months of uncertainty with no timetable of when we would next see the Lipscomb Bisons back game action after the ASUN Conference postponed its fall season, clarity came in mid-September when the NCAA approved a Nov. 25 start to the college basketball season.
Over the next month we will track the dwindling days to a long-awaited tipoff by matching the countdown clock to corresponding numbers of the men's basketball team. As we hit the first week of November, the Bisons are 23 days out from the season opener, so next up is No. 23 Ahsan Asadullah.
The 6-foot-8 center is coming off a monster year where he averaged 18.6 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. He became only the 2
nd player in Division I since 1992-93 to average a season line like that.
He was selected NABC First Team All-District, First Team All-ASUN, All-Academic and ASUN All-Tournament Team.
Asadullah was the only player in the conference to rank in the top-3 in scoring (2
nd), rebounding (1
st) and assists (2
nd). On the defensive side of the ball, he finished sixth in the league in blocks (36) and seventh in steals (36).
He set two ASUN Tournament records for total points (89) and total rebounds (42) over the course of three championship contests to average 29.7 ppg and 14.0 rpg. He opened the championship with a career-high 40 points in a win over FGCU. His efforts marked the most points ever scored by a Bison inside Allen Arena.
Asadullah pulled down a conference-high 15 double-doubles and was named ASUN Player of the Week three times.
