Chaw, Mitchell Named to ASUN Men's Tennis All-Decade Team

ATLANTA, Ga. - The ASUN Conference announced the Men's Tennis 2011-20 All-Decade Team as 23 student-athletes were named to the list across eight programs. North Florida led the way with seven student-athletes named to the All-Decade Team followed by four from FGCU and three from ETSU.

Over the past 10 years, three programs have captured ASUN Championship titles in ETSU (4), FGCU (3) and North Florida (2) while the Ospreys won a conference-high five ASUN Regular Season crowns over the past decade. ETSU and FGCU each have two regular-season crowns. Seven different student-athletes from seven different institutions have earned the Player of the Year honor between 2011 and 2020. 

To be named to the All-Decade Team an individual must have competed for at least two years in the decade as an ASUN student-athlete. Individuals that obtained one of the following criteria were named to the team; three First Team All-Conference selections (Singles), four All-Conference selections (Singles) or multiple Scholar-Athlete/Player of the Year honors. Individuals that obtained at least two of the following criteria were also named to the team; Player/Freshman/Scholar-Athlete of the Year or three All-Conference selections (Singles).


2011-20 Men's Tennis All-Decade Team (listed in alphabetical order by last name)

Jesus Bandres, ETSU (2010-13)
- A three-time First Team All-Conference selection in 2011-13 and a member of the 2010 All-Freshmen Team, Bandres was part of four consecutive ASUN Championship squads at ETSU. He added two Second Team Doubles postseason honors and his five Player of the Week awards are a Buccaneers' program record.

Fermin Calvo Barcelo, Kennesaw State (2017-19)
- Barcelo was named Player of the Year in the 2018 season and is the only student-athlete to earn the distinction in the Owls' history. Each of his three years with KSU ended with All-Conference Team selections including two to the First Team in 2018 and 2019 along with a Second Team nod in 2017. 

Tianyu Bao, FGCU (2012-15)
- Bao's career with the Eagles began with him earning FGCU's first Freshman of the Year honor in 2012. After being a member of the All-Freshmen Team during his first season in Fort Myers, he followed up with three All-Conference selections which included a First Team appearance in 2014.

Loic Blanco, Stetson (2015-18)
- The 2015 ASUN Freshman of the Year, Blanco was a four-time First Team All-Conference selection during his career with Stetson and is the only student-athlete in program history with this accomplishment. He was a member of the All-Academic Team in both 2017 and 2018 while also earning two Player of the Week awards.

Ramiro Blanco, USC Upstate (2009-12)
- Blanco was an All-Conference selection in each of his seasons at Upstate. He earned First Team honors in 2011 and 2012 while making the Second Team in 2009 and 2010. He was also a member of the All-Freshmen Team in 2009 and his four ASUN Player of the Week awards rank second all-time for the Spartans.

Moritz Buerchner, North Florida (2010-13)
- The 2013 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Buerchner was a four-time recipient of First Team All-Conference honors in his career at UNF. He represented the Ospreys in the 2013 NCAA Championship where he and partner Norbert Nemcsek defeated South Carolina in the First Round. He was also part of the All-Academic Team in 2012 and 2013.

Victor Chaw, Lipscomb (2017-20)
- A two-time All-ASUN selection in 2018-2019 and an All-Freshmen Team member in 2017, Chaw helped lead the Bisons to a 9-1 record during the shortened 2020 season. Of all the Lipscomb tennis players in ASUN history, Chaw holds the most Player of the Week honors at four.

Sahil Desmukh, North Florida (2016-19)
- Deshmukh is a three-time All-Conference from 2017-2019 and was a member of the All-Freshmen Team in 2016. He helped the Ospreys to three ASUN Championship Finals, and two titles in 2016 and 2018. 

Javier Fernandez, FGCU (2016-19)
- A three-time Second Team All-Conference member from 2016-18 and the Freshman of the Year in 2016, Fernandez helped the Eagles capture two ASUN Championship crowns in 2017 and 2019. 

Jack Findel-Hawkins, North Florida (2014-17)
- Findel-Hawkins is the only UNF player in ASUN history to be named the ASUN Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons claiming the title in 2016 and 2017 while being named the 2014 Freshman of the Year. He is also a four-time First Team All-ASUN selection that helped the Ospreys to three consecutive ASUN Championship Finals, claiming the program's first title in 2016. He has the most Player of the Week honors in ASUN history with eight and is the only player to collect three wins as an individual at the NCAA Championship in 2017.  

Sander Gille, ETSU (2009-12)
- A three-time First Team All-ASUN selection from 2010-12 and the 2010 Player of the Year, Gille helped ETSU earn four consecutive Championship Titles. The former Buccaneer was also an All-Freshmen Team member in his rookie season (2009). 

Maksim Levanovich, Stetson (2009-12)
- The 2012 ASUN Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Levanovich earned three Player of the Week awards during his Stetson career. He earned a pair of First Team All-Conference nods (2010, 2012) and led the Hatters to back-to-back ASUN Championship Final appearances.

Rob Mitchell, Lipscomb (2014-17)
- A three-time ASUN First Team All-Conference honoree, Mitchell guided Lipscomb to a pair of ASUN Championship upsets over No. 3 Kennesaw State and No. 2 Stetson in 2017. He was a three-time Player of the Week selection and earned a spot on the 2015 All-Academic Team.

Nicaise Muamba, Liberty (2019-pres.)
- Muamba was named the conference's 2019 Player of the Year after guiding Liberty to a second-place finish in the regular-season standings. He has earned four career Player of the Week awards and participated as an individual in the 2019 NCAA Tournament falling to USC in the First Round.

Lasse Muscheites, North Florida (2015-18)
- Muscheitas teamed with Jack Findel-Hawkins to earn an NCAA Tournament First Round win over South Carolina in 2017 before falling to Georgia in the Second Round. A five-time Player of the Week and a three-time All-Academic Team member, he was the 2018 Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was named to three consecutive All-Conference Teams.

Norbert Nemcsek, North Florida (2012-15)
- A part of two NCAA Tournament First Round Doubles victories (2013-14) during his North Florida career, Nemcsek is a three-time Player of the Week selection. He led the Ospreys to four-straight ASUN Championship Finals and a pair of Regular Season titles (2013-14) while being a three-time All-Conference selection.

Roger Ordeig, ETSU (2011-14)
- Ordeig was a member of four consecutive ETSU ASUN Championship title teams from 2011-14 while the Buccaneers claimed three Regular Season titles (2011-12, 2014) during his career. A two-time All-Academic Team selection, he was named to the All-Conference Second Team three times with two being for doubles (2013-14) and one for singles (2014).

Simon Pritchard, Kennesaw State (2014-17)
- Pritchard earned First Team All-Conference honors all four years of his career and was named the ASUN's Scholar-Athlete of the Year on three occasions (2015-17). A three-time Player of the Week recipient while competing at Kennesaw State, he also earned three-straight Second Team All-Conference Doubles honors (2015-17).

Felipe Ramirez, FGCU (2017-pres.)
- The 2017 ASUN Freshman of the Year, Ramirez also earned First Team All-Conference that same season while leading the Eagles to the conference championship title. FGCU also claimed the 2019 ASUN Championship and Regular Season crowns while Ramirez earned a pair of Second Team All-Conference distinctions (2018-19).

Daniel Sotomarino, North Florida (2010-13)
- The ASUN's first Freshman of the Year of the past decade (2010), Sotomarino guided North Florida to three straight ASUN Championship Final appearances from 2011-13. He was a two-time First Team All-Conference selection (2012-13) and earned three Second Team Doubles honors (2010-12) as the Ospreys won a pair of Regular Season titles (2011, 2013).

Davy Sum, Campbell (2008-11)
- Sum was a four-time First Team All-Conference pick with two coming in the past decade (2010-11). He was named the 2011 ASUN Player of the Year and his seven Player of the Week selections are second-most all-time in conference history. Sum was also named the 2008 ASUN Freshman of the Year.

Jordi Vives, FGCU (2013-15)
- The only FGCU student-athlete to win multiple ASUN Player of the Year awards (2014-15), Vives was a three-time First Team All-Conference selection and also won a trio of All-Academic Team placements. A six-time Player of the Week recipient, Vives earned an NCAA Tournament First Round victory over Coastal Carolina in 2014.

Yannick Zuern, North Florida (2014-17)
- Zuern earned four All-Conference Team distinctions during his North Florida career highlighted by his 2017 First Team nod. A four-time Player of the Week and 2016 NCAA Tournament participant, he was a member of the Osprey's 2016 ASUN Championship team and helped UNF to a pair of Regular Season crowns (2014, 2017).
