Men's Basketball struggles at Florida State

Box Score
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Lipscomb men's basketball ran into a buzzsaw Wednesday night as Florida State blew things open early in the second half en route to a 97-60 victory over the Bisons at the Donald L. Tucker Center.

Jacob Ognacevic led the purple and gold with 20 points and nine rebounds after shooting 7-for-9 from the field and draining a career high five 3-pointers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb (5-7) went toe-to-toe with the Seminoles (6-4) for the first several minutes, leading for nearly the first six minutes of action.

Ognacevic got the Bisons on the board with a triple from the right wing off a pass from true freshman Quincy Clark. In fact, the Sheboygan, Wisconsin native got hot and connected on his first five attempts from long distance.

Coupled with Ognacevic's first two treys, Greg Jones drained a 3-pointer and Will Pruitt knocked down a turnaround fade away from the free throw line to help the Bisons start 5-for-5 from the floor and hold a 14-9 lead over FSU in the first five minutes.

A few minutes later, Clark muscled in a layup to give the purple and gold a 16-14 lead at the 12:11 mark before FSU's Anthony Polite crank started his career night.

Polite scored eight straight at one point to help Florida State retake the advantage and push its lead to 13 with six minutes to play in the first half.

After another Ognacevic 3-pointer and a dunk from Parker Hazen cut the deficit to 11, the Seminoles pushed their lead out to 16 at halftime, 44-28.

The game got away quickly in the second half. FSU scored the first eight points of the period, then connected on nine consecutive shots to extend its advantage to 35 in the first six minutes. The Noles, who entered the night shooting just 32 percent from long distance on the year, drained their first six 3-point attempts after halftime and ended up throwing in a season high 14-of-26 for the game.

In a span from 1:45 left in the first half to the 5:37 mark of the second, FSU went 22-of-28 from the floor and turned an 11-point lead into a 44-point advantage, the largest of the game. The Bisons hit a trio of late triples to make it 97-60 at the final buzzer.
