Four Named to United Soccer Coaches All-Region Teams

NASHVILLE – Four Lipscomb Men's Soccer players landed spots on the United Soccer Coaches All-Region teams the organization announced Tuesday. Noah Gulden and Tyrese Spicer were named to the Atlantic Region first and second team, respectively and Hayes Wood and Scott Gulden notched spots on the third team.

Lipscomb's four athletes are the most in any single season to earn United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors and the first since Ben Locke in 2019. The athletes join Logan Paynter (3x honoree), Ivan Alvarado (3x), Joe Kerridge, Matt Kerridge, Luke Gearin, Omar Djabi and Miguel DaSilva.

Noah Gulden adds the United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region honor to a long list of accolades for the 2021 season. He was also the 2021 ASUN Defensive Player of the Year, Scholar Athlete of the Year, All-Conference First Team selection and All-Academic Team selection. This season, Noah Gulden led the conference and the Lipscomb squad with seven assists, assisting four of the Bisons' game-winning goals. The defensive stalwart played and started in every match and played nearly every minute for Lipscomb on the pitch this season. Anchoring a defense that held opponents to just one goal through the ASUN Championship, he also earned a spot on the ASUN Championship All-Tournament Team. This is Noah Gulden's first United Soccer Coaches All-Region honor.

Spicer earns a spot on the All-Region Second Team for the first time in his career in 2021 after establishing himself as one of the biggest offensive threats in the ASUN. He finished the regular season leading the Bisons with six goals and dished out three assists. Spicer was named the ASUN Championship Co-MVP when he added two goals and dished out three assists during Lipscomb's Championship run. He also added an assist in Lipscomb's NCAA First Round matchup against Hofstra. He finished the season ranked second in the ASUN in goals and first in both assists (7) and points (23). He was also named to the 2021 ASUN All-Conference First Team.

Scott Gulden joined his Lipscomb teammates with hist first-career United Soccer Coaches All-Region team honor, earning a spot on the All-Region Third Team. Both an offensive and defensive threat, the defender finished the regular season second on the Lipscomb squad with four goals and top-10 in the ASUN in the category at the end of the regular season. Playing over 1,300 minutes, he played and started in every match. He helped Lipscomb's defense to three shutouts on the season, including a shutout in the last match of the season to clinch a share of the ASUN regular Season Title. He was also named to the ASUN All-Conference First Team and All-Academic Team.

Wood rounds out Lipscomb's selections to the All-Region selections with a third team honor. Wood finished the season with nine goals to lead the ASUN and dished out four assists. The ASUN Championship Co-MVP scored two goals and notched two assists during the tournament to help lead the Bisons to its third ASUN Tournament Championship. He continued to impress in the NCAA First Round, scoring the Bisons' opening goal against Hofstra. Wood's first career All-Region honor adds to his 2021 honors as he was also named to the ASUN All-Conference Second Team.
