NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Sometimes during the season, a team usually has to regroup.

This week that has been the goal for the Lipscomb softball team with a concentration on individual work to get both comfortable and confident.

"We want to go into this weekend feeling refreshed," Lipscomb coach Kristin Ryman said. "We are digging a little bit deeper in trying to get back on track offensively.

"We are trying to find a way to take more of an advantage of what our strengths are. We have to emphasize being in attack mode at the plate. They know how to swing the bat. When we step in the box, we have to know what we are looking for and attack when you get it."

The Lady Bisons return to ASUN play this weekend at Draper Diamond at Smith Stadium against North Alabama. Game time for Saturday's doubleheader is 1 p.m. The series finale begins Sunday at 1.

Lipscomb enters the series with a 10-10 record, 1-2 in the ASUN. The Lions are 15-3 overall, 3-0 in the conference and bring a four-game winning streak.

Megan Garst leads the pitching staff with a 6-3 record. She has a 1.36 earned run average with 64 strikeouts in 51.1 innings.

"She is one of the best pitchers in the conference," Ryman said. "Anytime she is out there she is going to give them a chance to win."

Sidney Revels is 3-0 with a 1.12 ERA. She has 16 strikeouts in 25 innings. Maci Birdyshaw is also 3-0. She has 27 strikeouts in 16.1 innings and a 3.00 ERA.

Danielle de Ruiter leads the Lions in batting with a .300 average. Harley Stokes paces the team with five home runs and 14 runs batted in. Meleah Hargett has 13 RBI.

"They are a scrappy team," Ryman said. "They play hard and they play aggressive.

"They are going to play a little small ball. They are going to find a way to be a pesky team that is never out of a game. They are tough outs top to bottom."

Lipscomb is led at the plate by leadoff hitter Amy Vetula with a .369 average and 11 RBI. Kamrie Rich, in the clean-up spot is hitting .328 with two home runs and 10 RBI. Olivia Ward leads the team with 14 RBI.

Presley Leebrick is batting .299 and Kyndall Crawford is at .292.

Breana Burke, 6-3 with one save, has 49 strikeouts in 68.1 innings. Maddie Siemer is 2-1 with a 1.95 ERA. She has struck out 32 in 32.1 innings.

"We are going to use all the tools we have with power hitting at times, gap-to-gap hitting and running the bases," Ryman said. "We want to put pressure on the defense more than relying on the big hit all the time."
