Trio of Bisons Pick Up ASUN Men's Tennis Honors

ATLANTA, Ga. – Lipscomb's Pablo Caffarena, Pedro Uribe and Gonzalo Garcia-Nieto were recognized by the ASUN Conference with men's tennis postseason awards on Thursday.

Caffarena earned a spot on the first team All-ASUN and All-Academic squads, while Uribe picked up second team honors and Garcia-Nieto brought home All-Academic recognition.

Caffarena was named All-ASUN for the first time in his career and landed on the all-academic team for a second time (2019) while carrying a 3.66 GPA and pursuing a MBA. This season he finished 18-8 overall across singles and doubles. He earned the second most singles victories on the team after going 9-4 at the No. 1 position, and teamed with Maksim Bogdanovich to go 9-4 in doubles action as well.

Uribe brought home his first All-ASUN honor with a second team nod after his best season as a Bison. The Medellin, Colombia native combined to go 20-11 between singles and doubles, leading the team with a 12-4 mark in singles that included a perfect 6-0 ledger in ASUN action. The senior teamed with Jorge Ortegon to go 8-7 at No. 1 doubles, and 3-2 in league play.

Garcia-Nieto earned his spot on the all-academic squad after posting a 3.83 GPA while majoring in Business Management. He finished the season 6-6 in singles between the No. 4-5 positions and teamed with Jake Penny to lead the team in doubles at 10-3. He ended the season as hot as anyone in the league winning eight straight matches in doubles.
