Box Score NASHVILLE – Lipscomb Baseball took a 14-5 win over Bellarmine Saturday afternoon to secure the ASUN series victory at Ken Dugan Field.
The Bisons exploded for 14 hits while the defense allowed the Knights just five hits.
Tiger Borom was the hero of the day with a go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bisons took a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning. Things got going quickly as Borom was hit with the first Knights pitch to give Lipscomb a base runner.
Haddon Adams then laced a single through the right side, putting runners on first and third.
Chaz Bertolani earned the first RBI of the day with a single to score Borom and take a 1-0 lead. The Bisons then took advantage of a Bellarmine error to go ahead 3-0.
Lipscomb increased its lead 4-0 in the bottom of the second after
Maddux Houghton started things off with a leadoff hit to right field.
A
Brian Moore sacrifice bunt and stolen base set up the groundout RBI from Borom for a 4-0 lead.
The game took a quick turn in the top of the sixth when a walk drove one in and a grand slam gave Bellarmine a 5-4 lead.
Lipscomb wasn't discouraged, however, and responded with a big inning of their own.
Ty Jones got things going with a leadoff hit and the momentum was back in Lipscomb's favor.
The Bisons loaded the bases with no outs, partly thanks to a beautiful bunt for a hit by Moore.
Ready to swing, Borom stepped up to the plate and crushed a ball to right field for his first career home run. The grand slam put Lipscomb ahead 9-5.
Another run scored when
Chris Bashlor doubled and then scored on a
Chaz Bertolani single to stretch the Lipscomb lead 10-5.
Lipscomb continued to pour it on with four runs in the bottom of the fourth to round out the afternoon with a 14-5 victory over ASUN newcomer Bellarmine.
