Berg Elevated to Assistant Coach

NASHVILLE – Announced by head coach Jeff Forehand, former Lipscomb player Jake Berg has been promoted to Assistant Coach after spending the past season as a Graduate Assistant Coach.
"Jake Berg is one of the bright young minds in our game, and his passion for every nuance that surrounds it is unmatched," said Forehand.
"We have been so fortunate to have him as a player, then on our staff as a graduate assistant last year that made his promotion to full-time assistant coach a no brainer. His rapport with the players is special, and he makes an instant connection with everyone. Jake is going to do big things in our game, and we are blessed to have him here!"
After a three-year playing career wearing purple and gold, Jake Berg is in his second season on the Bisons coaching staff. After serving as a graduate assistant coach during the 2026 season, he was elevated to the full-time assistant coach role in 2027.
Playing from 2023-25 at Lipscomb, Berg spent the 2026 season as a graduate assistant and was a member of the ASUN Tournament Championship.
Working with defenders, he saw the program put together six defensive runs saved in 2026. On the offensive side of the ball, he ran scouting report meetings and helped the program post a .289 batting average, which ranked in the top 100 in Division I.
In his three seasons with the Purple and Gold, Berg recorded 107 career hits and had an OPS of .760. In 2023, his 54 walks still stand as the most in program history.
He has two championship rings with the Bisons, including winning as a player in 2023.
Berg transferred to Lipscomb from ASUN foe Jacksonville, and he was a three-time All-Conference selection at Bayport High School.
Outside of the Bisons, he created an LLC named Berg Backstops, helping to train and develop elite catchers who thrive as both athletes and leaders.
The Green Bay, Wisconsin native graduated from Lipscomb with a bachelor's degree in sports management and earned a master's in performance studies. In addition, he has completed two graduate certificates in business leadership and performance coaching, also from Lipscomb.
