Box Score NASHVILLE – Lipscomb Baseball fell 3-2 in a tightly contested duel against SEMO Thursday evening at Ken Dugan Field.
Starting pitchers on both sides were on fire early, with a shutout through the first five innings. For Lipscomb,
Dylan Bierman threw four hitless innings and fanned four.
Brian Moore and
Ethan Stamps lead the way offensively with two hits each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb had a runner on second in both the first and second innings with
Ethan Stamps leading off the second with a double, but both runners were stranded.
Starting pitcher,
Dylan Bierman, made quick work of the Redhawks, throwing a no-hitter through the first four innings.
SEMO took the lead, 3-0, in the top of the sixth with three runs on four hits. The Bisons threatened in the home half of the inning with runners on the corners, but they were stranded as the deficit stayed at three runs.
Lipscomb finally cracked the scoreboard in the bottom of the eighth after a leadoff double from
Brian Moore.
He advanced to third on a fly ball and scored on an RBI groundout by
Maddux Houghton to cut the lead 3-1.
Malik Williams kept the inning alive with a two-out single through the right side, but that was the final offensive push in the eighth for the Bisons.
Needing a couple of runs to keep the game going, Stamps leadoff the inning with his second hit of the night, but that was quickly erased with a double play. Things looked bleak for Lipscomb when
Carson Wright put a fly ball to left field, but the ball bounced off the right-fielders glove to keep the Bisons alive.
