Men’s Tennis Announces Jake Trondson As Volunteer Assistant

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb men's tennis program announced Wednesday the addition of Jake Trondson to its 2021-22 staff as a volunteer assistant coach for the team.

"We are so lucky to have Jake be a part of our staff," said head coach Geoff Hernandez. "He was an excellent player in college."

Trondson joins the staff from the University of New Mexico where he saw an impressive senior season for the Lobos. He quickly made an impact on the program with an 8-7 singles record and a 10-8 doubles record.

The St. Paul, Minnesota native played in the No. 1 doubles pairing for the Lobos' spring season, earning three wins including back-to-back wins against Michigan State and Drake. He also secured a win in his first spring singles match for New Mexico against Michigan State's Andrew Keene at the No. 6 position in a 2-0 win to help the Lobos to a 4-0 sweep of the Spartans.

Prior to transferring to New Mexico, Trondson played for the Hamline University Pipers. Whilst there, he picked up MIAC All-Conference honors in singles and doubles play for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

"More importantly, Jake is all in with this team," said Hernandez. "The sacrifices he is making to have an immediate impact on our program are selfless and extremely valuable. Jake has high standards and a strong character which have made him an easy fit for Lipscomb University."
