Jonathan Schwind Collects Fourth Weekly Title Following Record Breaking Run

ATLANTA, Ga. – After an incredible performance at the Music City Challenge, Lipscomb track and field's Jonathan Schwind was selected as one of this week's Track Athletes of the Week the league office announced Wednesday.

The title, shared with Eastern Kentucky's Ahmed Jaziri, marks Schwind's fourth weekly title earned over his career as a Bison.

The Suwanee, Georgia product received an invitation to compete at Vanderbilt University's Indoor Music City Challenge in the men's 800m run on Friday. He finished third in the event with a time of 1:48.01.

Graduate student Schwind's time marked a personal best and a new program record, breaking the previous record of 1:48.82 set by Schwind at the 2021 Samford Bulldog Invite.

His time also places him first in the conference for the men's 800m run by more than a second, as well as earning him a place in the top-20 for NCAA Indoor Track & Field in the men's 800m.

Furthermore, Schwind's time eclipses all previous ASUN Championship times for the men's 800m, including those from the past three years wherein Schwind won the title.

UP NEXT
Lipscomb's Track & Field teams will next head to Lynchburg, Va. to compete in the ASUN Indoor Track & Field Championships. The meet will kick off Friday, Feb. 25 and continue into Saturday, Feb. 26.
