Jackson Named ASUN Indoor Track & FIeld Most Outstanding Freshman

ATLANTA, Ga. – Lipscomb track and field's Bella Jackson was awarded the women's Most Outstanding Freshman title following her performance at the 2022 ASUN Indoor Track and Field Championship announced the league office Friday.

Jackson earned the title after earning first place in the women's high jump and seventh in the pentathlon. She finished twelfth individually at the meet after earning 12 points from her efforts, helping the Bisons earn fifth at the meet.

In the high jump event, Jackson entered the weekend ranked first in the ASUN for high jump following her program record setting 1.77m (5' 9.75") height which she logged at the Tom Hathaway Classic earlier this season.

Jackson defended her top spot in the conference over seven rounds where she recorded a height of 1.72m (5' 7.75") to claim the top spot. She earned her victory by clearing more than an inch higher than her closest competitors.

In the pentathlon, Jackson recorded 3395 points to her score to finish seventh in the event.
She began the pentathlon with a fifth-place finish and a program record in the 60m hurdles as she clocked in at 9.02. She then tied for first in the high jump portion of the event, matching Liberty's Meredith Engle at 1.74m (5' 8.5") to share the top spot.

Jackson finished 13^th in the shot put section, posting a distance of 6.83m (22' 5") before bouncing back to an eighth-place finish in the long jump with a personal best distance of 5.13m (16' 10").

The Whiteland, Ind. product finished eighth in the final portion of the pentathlon with a time of 2:32.11 in the 800m run so cement her seventh place finish in the overall event.

The Bisons will be back in action to open their outdoor track & field season at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. The Georgia Tech hosted meet will take place on Friday and Saturday, March 18^th and 19^th in Atlanta, Ga.
