Schwind, Jackson Collect ASUN Track & Field Weekly Awards

ATLANTA, Ga. – Lipscomb's track 7 field programs collected two of the ASUN's weekly awards announced the league office Wednesday. Graduate student Jonathan Schwind earned the Men's Track Athlete of the Week Title while Freshman Bella Jackson collected the women's Freshman of the Week title following their performances at the Joe Walker Invitational this weekend.

Schwind competed in the men's 800m run for the Bisons in Oxford, Mississippi this weekend.

He notched a time of 1:47.73 in the event to earn a personal best over his previous of 1:48.24 which he set at the 2021 NCAA Division I East Preliminaries.

This time ranks Schwind first in the conference by more than a second as well as placing him ninth in the NCAA for the outdoor men's 800m, less than two seconds behind of the top time of 1:45.83.

Jackson competed in the women's heptathlon and the 100m hurdles at the Joe Walker Invitational this weekend for Lipscomb.

She recorded a personal best of 4532 points in the heptathlon to earn sixth place in the event and the fifth highest heptathlon score in the conference.

Jackson collected her points from a 15.01 in the women's 100m hurdles (8th place), a height of 1.71m/5' 7.25" in the high jump (2nd place), a distance of 8.49m/27' 10.25" in the shot put (13th place and personal best), a time of 25.99 in the 200m dash (7th place), a distance of 5.30m/17' 4.75" in the long jump (5th place, personal best, and the second-best long jump distance by a freshman in program history), a distance of 18.80m/61' 8" in the javelin throw (13th place), and a time of 2:30.51 in the 800m (3rd place and personal best).

Her finishes rank her first in the conference for high jump, 25th for shot put, 14th for long jump, and 24th for javelin.

In the standalone 100m hurdles race, Jackson posted a time of 14.80, earning fourth place at the meet, 10th in the conference, and the best 100m hurdles time by a freshman in program history for her efforts.

The Bisons will be back in action on Friday and Saturday, April 22-23rd when they compete in the Georgia Tech Invitational.
