ATLANTA, Ga. – Lipscomb track & field's
Kiara Carter and
Bella Jackson were selected for this week's round of weekly awards as announced by the league office Wednesday. Carter was named the ASUN Co-Women's Track Athlete of the Week while Jackson collected her third ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Women's Freshman of the Week title.
Carter competed in the women's 800m run and the 4x400m for the Bisons at the Outdoor Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt University. Her squad notched a 5th place finish in the 4x400m relay with their time of 3:50.30, claiming the #2 all-time women's 4x400m relay time in program history by 0.04 seconds.
The Nolensville, Tenn. product earned a first-place finish in the 800m run with her time of 2:05.66 in the event, eclipsing the previous record of 2:07.51 set last season by Carter at the Tennessee Challenge. Her time ranks her second in the conference and 29
th in the NCAA East Region for the women's 800m.
Jackson competed in the high jump over the weekend where she claimed second place with a height of 1.76m (5' 9.25") to set the first new program record for the event since O'Neisha Smith cleared 1.73m in 2012 at the Birmingham Southern Invite. The Whiteland, Ind. native's height ranks her first in the conference by almost two inches, as well as tying her for 31
st in the NCAA East Region.
