Incoming Freshman Malachi Jones Named Gatorade Tennessee Soccer Player of the Year

NASHVILLE – Incoming freshman, Malachi Jones, was named the 2022 Gatorade Tennessee Boys Soccer Player of the Year it was announced last weekend. Jones is the first Gatorade Tennessee Boys Soccer Player of the Year to come from Grace Christian Academy in Franklin. 
 
The award is given to Tennessee's best high school boys soccer player who not only has outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field. 
 
The midfielder led Grace Christian Academy to a 17-2-2 record on the year and a Division II, Class A state championship. The 6-foot senior scored 22 goals and dished out 15 assists during the season, tallying three goals and three assists in the Lions' postseason run. 
 
His latest honor adds to Jones' four First Team All-State selections. All told, Jones scored 119 goals and 43 assists in him impressive high school career. Not only did Jones excel on the pitch, but he also maintained a weighted 4.33 GPA in the classroom and volunteered with Operation Christmas Box and as a youth soccer coach. 
 
Jones will join the Lipscomb Men's Soccer squad along with his brother, Levi, this fall to bolster a team that went 12-4-2 last season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament after winning the ASUN Regular Season and Championship titles.
