Lipscomb Baseball Welcomes Caleb Joseph

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb Baseball and head coach Jeff Forehand announced Monday the addition of Caleb Joseph to the team's coaching staff as the Director of Player Development. A Lipscomb baseball alumnus, Joseph returns to Lipscomb to offer experience from his storied collegiate career and his time playing in the pros.

During his time at Lipscomb, Joseph put together an incredible career both behind the plate and at bat for the Bisons. The Franklin, Tenn. native holds six single-season program records as well as the program record for career slugging percentage at .537.

Joseph holds the single-season program record in hits (89 in '08), home runs (17 in '08), doubles (25 in '07), total bases (160 in '08), games played (63 in '08), and games started (63 in '08). He earned a spot in the top-10s of Lipscomb single-season records a further seven times for slugging percentage (#2 - .615 in '08 and #5 – .566 in '07), RBI (#3 – 62 '08), doubles (#4 – 20 in '08), at-bats (#2 – 260 in '08), runs scores (#5 – 54 in '08), and total bases (#5 – 125 in '07).

Career-wise, Joseph holds a spot in the top-5 of four of Lipscomb's career program records – slugging (#1 – .537), total bases (#3 – 329), batting average (4th – .323), and RBI (4th – 131).

For his efforts on the field for the Bisons, Joseph was the first Lipscomb player to be selected to ABCA/Rawlings South Region First Team ('08). He is a two-time selection for the ASUN All-Conference First Team ('07 and '08), a 2008 selection to the ASUN All-Tournament team, the 2008 ASUN Tournament MVP, and one of Lipscomb's two selections to the 2001-2010 ASUN All-Decade Team.

Following his standout performance for Lipscomb, Joseph was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 7th round (No. 206) – the highest drafted catcher in program history.

While in the majors, Joseph logged 1263 at-bats over 425 games across seven seasons. He logged four seasons with 20+ runs and four seasons with 50+ hits. He has totaled 58 home runs with 16 in 2015 at the plate for Baltimore.

Joseph has spent time with the Baltimore Orioles, the Arizona Diamondbacks, and the Toronto Blue Jays and will now make his way back to Nashville to share his knowledge with this next generation of Bisons.
