Men's Cross Country

Women’s XC Claims Second, Men Take Eighth at Gans Creek Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Lipscomb's men's and women's cross country teams headed to Columbi, Mo. this week to compete in the University of Missouri's Gans Creek Classic on Friday morning. The women's squad claimed second place in a nationally ranked field with 60 points while the men's team claimed eighth with 202 points.
 
The men ran first at 9 a.m. CT in an 8K and were led across the finish line by junior Braedon Palmer who crossed the line 32nd with a time of 24:22.6. He was closely followed by Cole Kimmel in 34th (24:26.5) and Scott McKenzie in 37th (24:28.8).
 
Sophomore Brady Johnson was the next Bison to the finish at 24:37.7 to finish 51st while junior Nick Regas posted a time of 24:46.4 to finish 65th out of 231 runners in his first race as a Bison. With these top five times, the Bisons collected 202 points and claimed eighth place over teams such as Baylor, Illinois State, South Dakota, and Creighton.
 
The women's squad took off at 9:45 a.m. CT for their 6K race and were led on an incredible run by Colbi Borland and Lydia Miller who claimed fifth and sixth place respectively with times of 20:34.9 and 20:38.0. Ally Suyak and Liza Corso also claimed spots in the top-15 with Suyak earning ninth (20:40.8) and Corso crossing the line 11th out of 236 runners.
 
Kiara Carter and Mackenzie Barnett were the next Bisons across the line as they posted times of 21:11.6 and 21:16.9 to claim 29th and 32nd. With a total of 60 points from the spread, the Bisons claimed second place right behind #28 Illinois and over nationally ranked teams such as Minnesota (RV) and programs such as Northwestern, Minnesota, Missouri, Iowa, Baylor, and Kansas.
