Spicer Named Player of the Year, Eight Bisons Land on All-ASUN Teams

NASHVILLE – Lipscomb Men's Soccer was well represented in the ASUN postseason awards. Tyrese Spicer was named the unanimous Player of the Year while head coach Charles Morrow was named the ASUN Coach of the Year for the second-consecutive year. In addition, Spicer, Malachi Jones, Nick Dang and Ploutarchos Alonefti were named First Team All-ASUN while Juan Carlos Rodriguez was named Second Team All-ASUN. Rodriguez and Tyler Stinnett landed on the All-Freshmen Team while Adam McAleenan rounded things out on the All-Academic Team. 
 
TYRESE SPICER – PLAYER OF THE YEAR, FIRST TEAM ALL-ASUN
 
For the first time in his career, Spicer is the ASUN Player of the Year and is All-ASUN for the third time in his career. At the end of the regular season, Spicer led the ASUN with 13 goals and added three assists for an ASUN-leading 29 points. He also leads the nation in goals per game, is second in the nation in total goals (13), total points (29) and points per game (2.23). Sitting at the top of the ASUN in several categories, Spicer was first in the ASUN in goals, points, shots on goal, goals per game, points per game and game-winning goals. Of his 13 goals, six of them and one assist came in ASUN play for 13 points. There was a stretch during the season that he scored in 10-straight matches. The Trinidad and Tobago native contributed to 16 of Lipscomb's goals on the season, the 4th-best scoring offense in the country and has a point in every match he has played in but one. Twice he scored multiple goals in a match. Spicer was named to the MAC Hermann Watch List, was a Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week honoree and a TSWA Player of the Week selection. 
 
MALACHI JONES – FIRST TEAM ALL-ASUN
 
For the second-consecutive season, Malachi Jones was named First Team All-ASUN. Jones played and started in all 15 matches this season with five goals and nine assists for 19 points. The forward was second in the ASUN in total assists and assists per game. He was also fourth in the ASUN in total points (19) and points per game (1.27). On the national stage, Jones ranked 13th in the nation in total assists and 18th in assists per game. Jones earned an ASUN Player of the Week honor and scored one game-winning goal on the season. Jones scored the third-most goals for the Bisons who have the fourth-best scoring offense in the ASUN. 
 
PLOUTARCHOS ALONEFTI – FIRST TEAM ALL-ASUN 
 
For the first time in his career, Alonefti was named First Team All-ASUN. The midfielder played and started in all 15 matches for the Bisons and notched three goals and 11 assists for 17 points. Two of his goals and six assists came during ASUN play as he cemented himself as the biggest playmaker for the fourth-best scoring offense in the nation. Alonefti leads the nation and the ASUN in both assists and assists per game as well as fifth in the ASUN in points and points per game. At one point in the season, he had a stretch where he had at least one assist in six-straight matches and had two assists twice. Alonefti earned his first ASUN Player of the Week nod this season and contributed to goals in five of Lipscomb's seven matches. 
 
NICK DANG – FIRST TEAM ALL-ASUN
 
Dang was named First Team All-ASUN for the first time in his career after being named the 2022 Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and 2021-22 Freshman of the Year. The defender never came off the field this season and played and started in all 15 matches for the Bisons. The Brentwood, Tennessee native leads the ASUN in total minutes played. He had three goals and three assists this season for nine points with two goals and two assists coming during ASUN play. Consistently winning important tackles at center back, he helped the Bisons to one shutout on the season. 
 
JUAN CARLOS RODRIGUEZ – SECOND TEAM ALL-ASUN, ALL-FRESHMEN TEAM
 
As a true freshman, Rodriguez played the second-most minutes of any keeper in the ASUN. Rodriguez was first in the ASUN with 53 total saves, which ranked 60th in the nation. The three-time ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week was third in the ASUN in saves per game (3.78), a mark that was top-50 in the nation. In ASUN matches, he boasted a 1.57 goals against average and had a 76.6-percent save percentage with one shutout. With at least one save in every match this season, he had a season-high 10 saves against Stetson. 
 
TYLER STINNETT – ALL-FRESHMEN TEAM
 
Stinnett appeared in all 15 matches for the Regular Season Champions with nine starts on the season. He was a key playmaker in the middle for the Bisons with four assists on the season with three of those coming in ASUN matches. At the end of the regular season, he was top-10 in ASUN in assists and he had a two-assist match against Central Arkansas. He played 718 minutes with two 90-minute outings on the year. 
 
ADAM MCALEENAN – ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
 
McAleenan played in all 14 matches with 13 starts as a defensive midfielder and started every ASUN match. A stalwart in the middle, he played the full 90-minutes in 13-straight matches with a pair of shots on goal. The senior boasts a 4.0 while studying Psychology.
