Track & Field Wraps Up Final Weekend of Indoor Competition Prior to ASUN Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. / NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb men's and women's track & field teams completed their final weekend of indoor competition prior to the ASUN Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend by competing in both the Bulldog Invite, hosted by Samford University, and the Music City Challenge, hosted by Vanderbilt University.
At the Samford Bulldog Invite, which only took place on Friday afternoon, the Bisons tallied three top-10 finishes and a number of new personal bests.
Sophomore Allena Klamorick paced the Herd at the meet by finishing 5th in the women's 800m run (2:19.89), while freshmen Abigail Horevay and Kynnedy Gilbert crossed 7th in the women's 1-mile run (5:01.48) and 9th in the women's 400m dash (1:01.50) respectively.
At the Music City Challenge, which took place on Friday and Saturday, sophomore Aislinn McElhaney, junior Kennedy Miller, sophomore Lydia Miller, and junior Braedon Palmer all broke program records to lead the Bisons.
Aislinn McElhaney broke her own indoor women's long jump program record for the 3rd time this season with a distance of 6.03 meters, which earned her a 2nd-place finish in the event and was .04 meters further than her previous record. Kennedy Miller continued her strong start to the indoor season by breaking the women's 60m dash program record with a time of 7.69, which was .02 seconds faster than the previous record.
Lydia Miller also completed a successful weekend by breaking the indoor women's 5K program record with a time of 16:12.93, which earned her a 3rd-place finish overall and was 6.89 seconds faster than the previous record. Braedon Palmer broke the indoor men's 1-mile run program record with a time of 4:02.52, which earned him an 8th-place finish overall and was 1.09 seconds faster than the previous record.
Sophomore Bella Jackson also finished tied for 5th in the women's high jump (1.69m), while sophomore Colbi Borland crossed 8th in the women's 5Km run (16:30.62). Freshman Liza Corso and sophomore Mackenzie Barnett posted the 2nd (9:24.60) and 3rd-fastest (9:27.10) times in the women's 3Km run in program history.
Freshman Brady Yingst posted the fastest time by a freshman in the men's 3KM run (8:12.05) to close out the Music City Challenge for Lipscomb.

The Bisons will take a week off before opening up the ASUN Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, Feb. 24 in Lynchburg, Virginia.
