HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bisons claimed an extra-inning victory with a four-run top of the tenth, their 14th in the ASUN, to keep them tied with FGCU for the best record in the conference.

Lipscomb put two on in the first inning but couldn't make anything of their first opportunity in the Friday opener. The Colonels took an early 1-0 advantage on a single to center field with two runners on.

The Bisons would answer in the visitor half of the third on a two-run blast to right field by Alex Vergara, his 12th home run of the year.

In the next frame, Parks Bouck went yard as well to right field on a solo shot to give Lipscomb a 3-1 lead. Despite giving up the run in the first Friday start, Logan Van Treeck was in control, holding the Bisons to just one run until the sixth.

The Bisons' infield also made some outstanding defensive plays to shut down any potential threat the Colonels might have had for most of the first nine.

However, Eastern Kentucky took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the sixth on a three-run home run to right center.

Lipscomb tied things up in the top of the eighth on a bases-loaded walk, but the Colonels turned two to prevent more damage by the Bisons.

The contest would eventually move to extra innings as Lipscomb tied things up in the top of the eighth on a second bases-loaded walk by Parks Bouck.

Lipscomb took control, putting up a four spot in the top of the tenth with the second bases loaded walk on the day and an error on the Colonel's right fielder on a fly out, which allowed two more to touch home plate. Then, Will Lee slapped a ground ball to the pitcher to round the Bisons' final run of the inning.

Ethan Smith was called on to closed out in the final inning after Matthew Bohnert took the reigns from Van Treeck and pitched two scoreless innings, retiring all six of his batters faced and four strikeouts in the eighth and ninth.

The Bisons' pitching staff had perhaps its best outings this season, finishing with 16 strikeouts combined. Van Treeck led the way with 10 strikeouts in seven innings on the mound.

Lipscomb out-hit EKU 10-6 which moved them to a perfect 18-0 when winning that battle over their opponents this season. Coach Forehand's ball club also went 13-19 in advancement opportunities and turned two double plays defensively with no errors.
