Women’s Tennis Puts Two on College Sports Communicators 2022-23 Academic All-District Team

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb's women's tennis program continued to pull in the accolades as Perri Howard and Anja Trbeznik both earned spots on the 2022-23 Academic All-District Team as selected by College Sports Communicators. Selection to the All-District Team puts both Howard and Trbeznik forward as candidates for the CSC Academic All-America Teams.

"Perri and Anja have been two of our leaders and that leadership transitions to the classroom," commented head coach Jamie Aid. "The younger players see how the older ones work and that sets the culture of our team. We're very proud of their hard work and the culture they have created for the program."

Perri Howard collected a 4.0 cumulative GPA towards her Bachelor of Finance degree while competing in all 21 of Lipscomb's matches this season, primarily appearing in doubles play. She compiled an overall record of 8-17 this season, including a 1-4 mark in singles play.

Howard claimed her singles victory over her opponent from MTSU in a 6-4, 7-5 triumph. The Bradenton, Fla. product tallied a 7-13 mark in doubles play with partners Taisia Yakunina and Liza Diachenko.

Anja Trbeznik earned a 3.52 cumulative GPA towards her Bachelor of Finance degree while competing in all 21 of Lipscomb's matches this season.

She concluded the season with a 13.23 overall record including a 4-15 mark in singles play. Trbeznik collected singles victories over opponents from North Dakota (1/15), Alabama A&M (1/20), Georgia State (1/27), and Tennessee State (3/15).

The Ljubljana, Slovenia product compiled the highest win count in doubles play on the squad with a 9-8 record earned alongside partners Alina Cherniaieva, Sofiia Paladi, and Sasha Dobranos. Trbeznik primarily partnered with Dobranos and the duo earned a 7-4 record, highlighted by wins over pairs from Mercer (2/25) and Belmont (3/10).
