JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Bisons track & field teams concluded their outdoor regular season at the ASUN Outdoor Championships held in Jacksonville, Florida. Lipscomb closed out the three-day meet with two ASUN titles, four new program records, eight podium finishes, and 19 top-five finishes in the successful business trip to Jacksonville.
Bella Jackson started the three-day meet for the Bisons by earning Second Team All-Conference honors with a second-place finish in the women's high jump (1.73m).
Ally Suyak and
Maddie Moody both garnered all-conference honors in the women's 10,000m run by crossing second (35:48.29) and third (36:13.58) respectively. Multiple Bisons qualified for the finals in their events, while
Ben Butcher finished fifth in the men's 10,000m (30:43.19).
Makayla Watson also broke the outdoor program record in the 200m dash by running a time of 24.33 in the preliminary round.
Aislinn McElhaney paced Lipscomb during the second day of the meet by winning and setting both a program and championship meet record with her distance of 6.37m in the women's long jump.
Mollie Longmire also tallied a top-five finish by crossing fourth in the women's 3,000m steeplechase (11:02.26).
Colbi Borland and
Kiara Carter led the women's team on Saturday's final meet day, by winning the women's 5,000m run (16:45.06) and crossing second in both the women's 800m run (2:06.40) and women's 1,500m run (4:18.56) respectively.
Lydia Miller and
Scott McKenzie also garnered all-conference honors by finishing second in the women's 5,000m run (16:54.53) and third in the men's 5,000m run (14:21.58) respectively.
The 4x100m relay team of
Kennedy Miller,
Jaden Mathews,
Abigail Alvarado, and Watson teamed up to break the outdoor program record with a time of 46.38, while Carter also shattered the program record in the women's 1,500m run with a time of 4:18.56.
Franziska Decker also broke the ASUN championship meet record in the javelin event of the heptatlon with a distance of 42.88m.
UP NEXT:
The Bisons will now wait and see if select student-athletes will qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Meet starting on Wednesday, May 24 in Jacksonville, Florida.
