NASHVILLE – Lipscomb Men's Soccer's
Tyrese Spicer and
Hayes Wood have been named to the United Soccer Coaches 2023 NCAA Division I Players to Watch list for Forwards.
Spicer is one of two returning All-Americans to don the list and the pair joins 30 others as Players to Watch.
Spicer was a 2022 Third Team All-American after yet another fantastic season. Last season, the forward played in 18 matches for Lipscomb as a threat on the wing. The 2022 ASUN Preseason Player of the Year dished out seven assists, a top-five mark in the ASUN and second-most on the Lipscomb squad. He also notched four goals on the season for 15 points. He ranked top-five in the ASUN in shots and shots on goal. He scored one game-winner for the Bisons and was an ASUN All-Conference selection for the second-consecutive year and a United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region First Team honoree.
Wood earns the honor after a senior campaign that saw the forward earn 2022 Second Team United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors for the second-consecutive season. Wood played and started in every match for the Bisons and was the second-leading scorer on the squad with eight goals, which also ranked second in the ASUN. He dished out three assists as well for 19 points on the season. Always clutch, Wood had three of Lipscomb's game winners last season. He earned ASUN First Team honors for the first time in his career last year.
The Bisons open the regular season Thursday, Aug. 24 at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex. The match will kick off at 8 p.m. CT against FAU.
